Only 15 minutes from the centre of Rotorua but a very different world! Experience the thrill of Whitewater rafting on the Kaituna River - one of the world's leading whitewater destinations. This is a Grade 5 river meaning an adrenalin rush that is hard to beat for even the most experienced adventurer.
Your rafting adventure begins with a 15-20 minute safety briefing to ensure you are prepared for the action ahead. Now it is time to get wet and wild on this action-packed whitewater rafting experience. The Kaituna River runs for 50km (31 mi) from Lakes Rotorua and Rotoiti into the Bay of Plenty at Te Puke. It is 50 kms of rafting heaven! Under the expert supervision of your professional guides you will have the adrenalin rush of a lifetime as you navigate down the highest commercially rafted waterfall in the world.
This exhilarating, fast and furious ride moves you through foamy water and over an awesome seven metre drop that will last long in the memory - assuming that you can keep your eyes open. Although this experience provides full on action, the river is considered 'pool drop' meaning every rapid is followed by calm water making it very forgiving for a grade 5 river. Beginners with a sense of adventure are very welcome - just make sure that you bring a towel and a change of clothes!
